The intricate, lacy and elegant designs of filigree are steeped in centuries old metalsmithing techniques found in many cultures. While there are many approaches to filigree work, this class will explore the Russian method. Students will begin with construction of a simple sterling frame, then will learn to fabricate the filigree wire that will be used to create patterns to fill those frames and enhance designs. Finally all elements will be soldered using an unconventional approach. TORCH SOLDERING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED. This is a PROCESS class, but students will leave with a finished or nearly finished pendant. One session, 3 hours.
$65.00 plus supplies (approximately $8).
