Twisted Wire Applique with Mary Kernahan Wednesday, June 25 6-9pm

Inlay is tecnique where contrasting metals are recessed or joined to the surface of a base platethen impressed in, resulting in a surface with varying color and pattern ranges. Applied inlay, also known as applique, is an inlay tecnique that begins with canes of twisted wire of various metals and gauges that are formed into interesting shapes and patterns. The resulting shapes are then soldered to the base plate and the resulting sheet is then either hammered or rolled until the appliqued metal becomes flush with the base. The result is a stunning one of a kind sheet of metal that will turn the simplest of designs into a work of art. This is a PROCESS class. One session, 3 hours.
