Forging, the controlled shaping of metal through the force of hammer blows, is one of the most ancient forms of metal work, allowing for changes in form, thickness and providing graceful transitions into planes. Students will learn basic hammer shapes & how each is used to move metal in specific directions. Forging squares, rectangles, basic tapers, splits and twists are among the techniques introduced before students have the opportunity to practice their new skills to make a forged pendant or cuff. Beginners are welcome. This is a primarily a PROCESS class but students may leave with a completed or near completed PROJECT as well. One session, 3 hours.
